1. Describe your menu structure and what you have implemented in your CMS.

My menu structure consists of three four-level options: Home, My Life, Tech, and Homework. The Home option simply returns to the home page. The My Life lists the posts related to my personal life, including my hobbies and hometown. Likewise, the Tech option lists posts about technology. And the Homework option reveals a page “Homework Directory” with all homework-related links, as well as sub-directories for each homework assignment with all of the corresponding posts and pages. For example, you will find this page under Homework > Homework 5.

2. Discuss what new contents you have added. Provide all the links of new contents.

In this homework assignment, I created a post about my career and hobbies (and of course this summary). I also completely revamped the menu navigation system. Previously, I only had a Homework option that would lead to the Homework Directory page. Now, I have menu and sub-menu options that both allow users to see the website structure as well as quickly navigate between the different posts and pages.

3. Discuss what you have developed/achieved in managing categories/tags.

In my experience, it’s best to start organization schemes simple and only increase complexity with the number of things being organized. In this case, this means using tags and categories that are fairly general. So far, I’ve created “personal” and “technology” categories/tags, and an “other” category. The idea is to create a new organizer only when (1) a new post doesn’t fit into any of the existing options or (2) when the categories get too bloated and there are a sufficient number of posts to split it out a new (sub)category. In general, categories are more broad than tags, but for now they’ll largely be the same.

4. Describe how you use category search for visitors (i.e., side search bar) and tag cloud plugin.

Website visitors currently have three ways to navigate content. First, they have the menu system described above. Second, they can see all the posts with a particular tag by clicking that tag in the tag cloud. And third, they can search for keywords in posts by clicking the magnifying glass in the upper-right hand corner and typing their query into the revealed search bar.
